Personally owned business
A personally owned business (sole proprietorship) is the simplest type of business. No start-up capital is required and the owner is indebted indefinitely for the company's debts.
Private Limited Company (Anpartsselskab – ApS)
A Private Limited Company is a company that can be formed by one or more persons. Deposits are divided into shares and the owners are only liable for their deposits in the company. A deposit of at least DKK 40,000 is required to establish an ApS.
Public Limited Company (Aktieselskab - A/S)
A Public Limited Company is a company that can be founded by one or more persons. Deposits are divided into shares and the owners are only liable for their deposits in the company. A deposit of at least DKK 400,000 in start-up capital is required.
Partnership - I/S
A Partnership or an Associate can be owned by both companies and individuals. There must be at least two owners. The owners are personally, jointly and severally liable. No deposit is required to establish an I/S.
Holding Company
A Holding company is a term for a company (eg. ApS or A/S) whose purpose is to own shares in other companies. A Holding Company is a company in which there is typically no turnover but is a passive Corporation that is used for investment.
